Cast in bronze, a patina of brilliant reds and golds with polished bronze edges, contemporary in style, this sculpture is bright with energy and movement.   Each piece I create teaches me something, often many things. As this piece began to take shape I reflected on the transformative power of a compassionate thought.

TOM’S One for One … a solvable crisis

TOMS Eyewear – Nepal Giving Trip

“World Sight Day is a day of celebration, when we light not candles, but hearts of compassion” – Dr. Chundak

Sight is a fundamental need. The loss of sight has a dramatic impact on a person’s life and on his or her family and community. Last year the SEVA foundation and the global TOMS community banned together to recognize visual impairment and blindness as a critical global issue. 80% of visual impairment can be prevented or cured with available solutions.

Join us again this year on 10/11/12 to spread awareness. The more people who know, the more we can work toward solving this crisis.

“Sacred Art, Sacred Space”

Friday, May 11, 2012, 6:30 pm

Looking beyond the dot … what is sacred? What are we devoted to? Not in a religious sense but in the idea of what our lives are about and who we are committed to being. In a world that is busy, demanding, stimulating of mind and body, how do we hold our center?  How do we live a life that is fulfilling and authentic? These are the questions of sages throughout time. Gathering the tools that will support us on this amazing journey that is our life, we will talk about anchoring our spiritual practice in the everyday moments: sacred art, sacred space, sacred mind. RSVP for this event by visiting Shey’s Fanpage on Facebook.

Notes on the Spiritual Journey …

Driving as a Mindfulness practice

In our busy world most of us, on most days, find ourselves behind the wheel of a car.  Driving puts us in relationship with many things: the vehicle itself, the people in it, the gadgets and such that enhance the experience. We are likely to bring along our own traveling bits, handbags, digital devices, water bottles, snacks. Read More … From our seat to our feet, meditation in action … people are stepping up all over. Thank you.

“Open to Life”

Released Dec 2, 2011

Inspired by a small sketch during a moments quiet reflection, a painting, a poem and a pendant have emerged.  I welcome them as invitation, as reminder, aspirations for life and living 2012 and beyond.

The painting, Skydancer, brilliant, soft in color, a natural tension between the harmonies, the image rises. Combining various brush styles, pointillism brings the butterfly like image into focus.

The poem speaks for itself, let it reach in, touch you.

Sterling silver, ‘Open to Life,’ pendant as talisman, the rise of the Divine feminine in each of us, an invitation to open to the fullness of life’s experience, take flight.
